Wout Weghorst is optimistic that he will be offered a permanent contract with Manchester United after the conclusion of his loan stint at Old Trafford.
United agreed earlier this month to a pay package worth £2.5 million to interrupt the striker’s loan to Turkish club Besiktas from Burnley. As a result of the agreement, the striker from Holland has joined till the conclusion of the current season.
In the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final that United played against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, Weghorst earned his third appearance for the club and netted his debut goal for United in a 3-0 victory. Even though there is no requirement to make his transfer permanent in the summer, United’s primary objective will be to recruit a striker, and they have a considerable interest in Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
When Weghorst was asked if he believes there is a possibility to prove to United manager, Erik ten Hag, that he can stay at United for a longer period of time, Weghorst responded,
“Of course. The scenario is exactly the same as it was before, and that was for a loan. Because it is such a large club, I will make every effort to perform each task to the best of my ability; if everything goes according to plan, it will be an excellent alternative.”
“I’ve seen how large the club is in everything from the first couple of days, almost a week, including the facilities, the club, and even the quality in the team, as well as the way that we’re playing,” he said. There is a great deal of excellence in everything, and that is something you strive to contribute to, in an environment that encourages winning.”

“I believe that the first week went really well, and it is now up to me to deliver, contribute, and assist the team to the best of my ability. I’m fairly convinced I can play a role in it. The opportunities are there, and all that’s left for me to do is deliver, contribute, and help the team, not just in the way that I play but also in the way that I press.”
“Regarding his goal, Weghorst elaborated, saying, “I assume Casemiro was over there on the right side”. He played to Antony, and then he fired. I just kept moving closer and closer to the goal in the hopes of getting a rebound, and eventually, I did.”
“It came slightly to my left, and I took it and leaped in with the outside,” he said. I made the most of it. I had high hopes that the ball would fall in that direction, and sure enough, it did. I believe it was a pretty good moment, a really good time to score just before half-time since we were not that in control of the game, so I think that absolutely helped us,” the player said.
