Andrew James Whitworth, a former American football tackle, is now a retired athlete. He competed in the National Football League for a total of 16 years before hanging up his cleats (NFL).

Following the conclusion of his NCAA football career at LSU, where he was recognized on two consecutive occasions as a member of the first-team All-SEC, the Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the second round of the NFL Draft in the year 2006.

While playing for the Bengals, Whitworth was honored with selections to the Pro Bowl three times and to the All-Pro first team once. In total, he was named to the All-Pro first team once.

During the final five seasons of his career, Whitworth was a member of the Los Angeles Rams football team. During that period, he was selected to play in a total of four Pro Bowls and was named to the first team of All-Pro honours twice.

The school was recognized as the best in the nation in high school football by the National High School Football Tony Poll in the years 1997, 1998, and 2000 respectively. He was a member of all three of the Louisiana Class 5A State Championship teams that won during those years, and all three of those teams won the championship.

Together, Whitworth and his wife, Melissa, have been responsible for the upbringing of four children: Sarah and Drew, who are identical twins; Michael and Katherine. Melissa is a reporter for the state of Louisiana, where she has won multiple awards for her work, and she is the winner of the Cincinnati season of Dancing With the Stars. In 2003, she has crowned Miss Louisiana.

The BigWhit 77 Foundation is the vehicle through which Whitworth University participates in a variety of community service programs. He also gives motivational talks to youth organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area and in Louisiana. He organizes a golf tournament in Louisiana with the goal of raising money, and he does so in order to raise money for a specific cause.

In March of the year 2020, Whitworth University made a contribution to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in the amount of $250,000 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that happened in the preceding year (2020–2021).
