Jane Fonda has left her The View co-panellists and audience stunned after she suggested “murder” as a solution to dealing with anti-abortion activists.

Appearing on the talk-show overnight, the 85-year-old actress gave an impassioned speech rallying women to take agency over their bodies, particularly when it comes to abortion rights.

“We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have. We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives,” Fonda said. “We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back.”

Host Sonny Hostin smiled as she said, “That’s the activist, she probably will get a Nobel Prize.”

But then Joy Behar asked what else people can be doing to further the cause, and Fonda said, without missing a beat, “Well, I’ve thought of murder.”

Her Grace and Frankie co-star Lily Tomlin asked her to repeat herself, to which Fonda definitively repeated, “Murder”, as the panel burst into nervous laughter.

“She’s just kidding,” Behar covered quickly, saying, “Wait a second… They’ll pick up on that and just run with it. She’s just kidding.”

Fonda then gave Behar a split second stare that suggested she, in fact, wasn’t kidding, inciting more laughter before Hostin awkwardly moved the conversation on.

Fonda has been a staunch leftist activist for most of her life, championing for causes like women’s rights, LGBTBIA+ rights, and most notably, the anti-war movement.

She was dubbed ‘Hanoi Jane’ after being pictured sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun, which resulted in many Americans being outraged by her actions, with the actress earning ire from US war veterans that follows her even now.
