President Droupadi Murmu on Friday claimed she was anguished to learn about the dying of 16 Army staff in a road accident in Sikkim.

She presented heartfelt condolences to the family members of the deceased and prayed for the speedy restoration of the wounded.

Sixteen Military staff which includes three Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) were killed in the highway incident when their truck fell into a gorge when negotiating a sharp convert at Zema in North Sikkim.

“Anguished to understand about the loss of life of courageous troopers of Indian Army in a street incident in Sikkim. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I pray for the fast recovery of the hurt,” Murmu tweeted.
