Obituary: James Michael Wyse

Looking through, Mass. – James Michael Wyse, identified to pals and relatives as “Jim” and “Jimmy”, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 8, 2022.

Born and raised in Portland, Jim attended Cheverus and Deering Higher Educational institutions, and obtained his bachelor’s diploma in mechanical engineering from the University of Maine at Orono. He traded a long occupation as an engineer at Vicor Corp. for a position as Director of World-wide-web Style and design at UMass Boston, which he held until eventually his passing.

An accomplished guitarist, he grew up in a musical house the place he experienced his very first lessons with his mom, and practiced and carried out with his two brothers. He ongoing with innovative teaching at the Boston Conservatory, and went on to play and conduct often in the classical, jazz, flamenco and rock genres, typically on guitars that he designed himself.

Jimmy, in his lifestyle, was a person of various passions: He skydived, played football and racketball, created rockets, designed Polish babka and pierogi for Christmas, coached his daughter’s junior high softball workforce, built and flew design airplanes, golfed, raced model automobiles and was an avid calligrapher.

He was predeceased by his son, James Jr. father, Richard J. Wyse, stepfather, Harvey J. Patry and stepsister, Claire Sweeney Patry.

He is survived by his spouse, Carrie daughter, Kaera mom, Victoria Zdanowicz Patry sister, Carolyn Robinson and partner Don, brothers Joseph and spouse Erin, Paul and partner François Germain aunt, Carolyn Zdanowicz cousins Ann Nash and spouse Tom, Judy Zdanowicz and partner Jeff Pullins nieces Nicole Ruginski and husband Jamie, Katherine Kirk, nephews Paul Kirk, Cole and Nicholas Wyse stepsisters Denise Patry Leidy and husband John, Gisele Patry and spouse Kim Kiefer, stepbrothers Marc Patry, Jules Patry and wife Suzanne, and Norman Patry.

A personal memorial support will be held in the spring.
