SOUTH PORTLAND – Evelyn Daltry Taylor King, 98, passed absent just after a short disease on Dec. 16, 2022.
She was born in Cambridge, Mass. in 1924. She graduated from Cambridge Significant and Latin College in the course of 1942 and went to get the job done the pursuing Monday at Harvard University. She went on to operate at the Chamber of Commerce in Red Financial institution, N.J. wherever she was the only women of all ages in a 7000 male organization. She was elected to the City Council in Gorham and went on to turn into the Deputy City Clerk. She was then employed at the Chamber of Commerce in Clearwater, Fla. ending her job at the Convention and People Bureau in the Portland Jetport lastly retiring at the age of 78.
In 1964, she married Herman E. King who was a lieutenant colonel and retired from the United States Air Pressure. They resided in Middletown County, N.J. with his four little ones and her two kids. Evelyn and Herman moved again to Maine exactly where they purchased Clarks Coal and Lumber Corporation in Gorham. Right after the decline of Herman she remained in Portland.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters Joanne Taylor and her partner, Scott Zuckerman of Connecticut Nancy Taylor and her spouse Russell Keene of Gorham, her son, Geoffrey King and his spouse Terry of Portland. She is also survived by the young children of Herman E. King, Michelle McGowan of Colorado, Michel King of Limington, J. Hunter King of Turner and his spouse Kathleen, Jane Sullivan and her husband Richard of Groveland, Mass. her niece, Carol Sackos of Lawrence, Mass. with whom she had a pretty near partnership for 70 several years. She leaves at the rear of her eight grandchildren 4 fantastic-grandchildren her action-grandchildren Samantha King, Scott King, Sean McGowan and Matthew Sullivan.
The spouse and children would like to thank the workers at Harbor Chase in South Portland for the added treatment, appreciate and nurturing of Evelyn through her home with them.
