A teenage boy has died immediately after reportedly being thrown from the tray of a utility auto in a Northern Territory community on Wednesday afternoon, with authorities continue to making an attempt to locate the driver.

Law enforcement and CareFlight attended the incident in Palumpa, 360 kilometres south-west of Darwin.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner mentioned detectives from the NT Police’s big crash device had been travelling to Palumpa to commence an investigation.
