Male arrested right after allegedly having into plane’s cockpit at Atlanta airport

A male was recently arrested at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport after allegedly attempting to gain access to a private aircraft’s cockpit. According to airport officials, the incident occurred at around 4:30pm on Wednesday, after the man had already passed through security screening.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was apprehended by airport police officers near a private hangar after appearing to try to get inside the cockpit of a parked aircraft. The suspect was promptly arrested and taken into custody by airport authorities.

No weapons were found on the man or in his possession at the time of his arrest. However, police investigators preliminarily stated they believed the suspect to have had malicious intent, as he appeared to have been trying to gain access to the plane’s cockpit.

The Atlanta Police Department are currently coordinating a joint investigation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to further evaluate the suspect’s actions.

The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has since released a public statement offering reassurance to travelers, clarifying that the suspect was apprehended swiftly and security standards are still fully in place.
