Liverpool reward ‘exceptional’ starlet Bajcetic with new four-year contract after praise from Klopp
Bajcetic has acknowledged that his rapid rise has come as a surprise to him, especially considering that he was playing for Liverpool's under-18 team last season
Stefan Bajcetic, a young midfielder for Liverpool, has just signed a new four-year contract extension, according to the club.
This season, the central midfielder has appeared 10 times for his team, and he has started in all three of their cup competitions (Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup). Additionally, he debuted for Liverpool n the Champions League.
Bajcetic has acknowledged that his rapid rise has come as a surprise to him, especially considering that he was playing for Liverpool’s under-18 team last season.
Bajcetic’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been generous in his admiration of his player’s development throughout the current season, making comments like, “There was a door – I’m not even sure it was open – but he ran through it and he was really exceptional.”
The new deal for the Spanish player, who was acquired from Celta Vigo in December 2020 for a transfer fee of £220,000, illustrates the club’s objective of obtaining and maintaining the finest available young talent. Nine of the club’s most recent 10 permanent signings have been players aged 25 or younger.
“A year ago I was playing under-18s football and now I’ve started some games, made my debut, and even scored a goal,” Bajcetic told liverpoolfc.com. “That was something I never imagined to happen this year. It blows my mind to see how quickly it all happened. However, I am continuing to put in a lot of effort, and I am hoping that more opportunities may present themselves.
He continues by saying, “Obviously, I’m so, so thrilled, and so excited to continue playing for this club, and hopefully I can play for many years together.” The new contract that my family and I have signed with this club brings a great deal of happiness to all of us. It has an incredible feeling. During the past two years that I’ve been here, it’s something that I’ve daydreamed about, and it’s also something that I’ve been working very hard to achieve.
