Dorothy Elizabeth Block

Dorothy Elizabeth Block, age 98, of Monroe handed away on
Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on
October 8, 1921, the daughter of Jesse and Hilda (Ruegsegger) Beach in Monroe.
Dorothy attended Enterprise Country School and was a 1939 graduate of Monroe
High School. She was united in marriage to Roy Albert Block on November 24,
1943 in Monroe.

Dorothy labored alongside her husband on their dairy farm in
Jordan Township for 28 years and in Cadiz Township for 33 years. She loved
stitching, baking, and gardening. She was additionally a member of St. John’s United
Church of Christ, Hannah Circle, and was previous 4-H member and chief. Dorothy
made quilts for all her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her youngsters, Beverly (Richard)
Wehinger of Monroe and Gerald (LaVonne) Block of Poulsvo, WA; daughter-in-law,
Linda Block of Monroe; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brothers,
Rolland Beach and Nathan (Mary) Beach.

She was preceded in loss of life by her mother and father; husband, Roy; son,
Russell Block; two sisters, Ella Burrington and Louise Wild and in addition twin
sisters in infancy; and brother, Duane (Rose) Beach

Funeral Services will likely be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January
28, 2020 at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Todd Hackman
officiating. Burial will likely be in Greenwood cemetery. A visitation will likely be Tuesday
from 9:30 am till the time of service, on the Church. SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE
Funeral Home is aiding the household.

 In lieu of flowers,
memorials could also be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ or Pleasant View
Nursing Home.
